The Legacy of Vanda Scaravelli
Vanda Scaravelli was an Italian born artistocrate who came to yoga late in life under the guidance of B.K.S Iyengar and Desikachar. When left to her own practice Vanda intuited the unique and intrinsic movements of the human body in relationship with the spine and the natural forces surrounding us. Vanda's discoveries have been past down through an intimate student teacher relationship through guiding principle rather than directives

Who can do yoga?
Anybody of course, there are so many aspects of yoga it is misleading and mystifying to claim that yoga is only for the already fit and flexible-if that was so I would never have even started yoga. Traditionally in India the children who were understood as not being strong or healthy were the ones sent to study Yoga. In fact B.K.S Iyengar -hugely responsible for popularising yoga in the West - started his life in yoga as a weak and often sickly child. Yoga is at its core a spiritual practice intended to bring peace to all beings.
What do I need to Practice Yoga?

What to expect and general teaching content
Be prepare for something different and intuitive.
Movement , breath , philosophy and contemplation. Deepening a spiritual intention for our practice enables us to release more tension and physically held patterns, breath, philosophy, self appreciation and contemplation are woven into the class and asanas (The shapes we make with our bodies in Yoga)
Session always start with a friendly and personal check in, conscious warming up movements, observance of the breath and some small reflections philosophy. These gentler practices are then woven through the session to support the flourishing of more extensive postures.
In-Person Group Classes
Warm friendly and inpersonal way to share the joy in practicing yoga with an ever growing and evolving community.

Yoga Workshops
Longer than a class (usually 3 hours), a workshop can really delve into and deepen aspects of the practice that we visit in a class or shorter practice. The workshop looks at a particular theme or point of interest and students are encourage to ask questions and observe the outcomes of the movement. These workshop give us opportunity to enjoy more breath and meditation and always include a cosy drink, delicious snack and time to get to know each other. See Bookings for up and coming events.
Online Classes
Online sessions carry the same intention and offerings as an in studio class accept it is attended via a Zoom link transporting you in to the yoga experience from the comfort of your own home.
Video Tutorials
Pre-recorded session for members and clients. these session go into more specific detail providing added clarity and tuition when practicing independently.
One-to-one Teaching
Intimate and inspired session. Here you have the teacher all to yourself in a private and safe setting chosen by the client. In these session Penelope's intuition and expertise is truly guided by the receiver's individuality. A nourishing and and unique yoga experience. One to one session are great for personal progress.

Delving into the deeper aspects of how we feel about our bodies.
